The coast and the resorts of Denia, Javea and Moraira are a totally different world from the high-rise resorts to the south and are just half an hour’s drive from the villa.
They each have a distinctive character, blue-flag beaches, a yacht marina and fishing port. Each has dozens of bars and dining facilities covering all price brackets ranging from some of Spain’s finest fish restaurants to Chinese, pizza and burger restaurants.
Calpe, about half an hour’s drive, does have high rise buildings but that is more than compensated by a beautiful beach bordered by an attractive promenade, a port with a cluster of fish restaurants and the stunning pennon de ifach – known as the ‘mini Gibraltar’ - rising majestically from the sea.

Benidorm, with its famous nightlife and theme parks of Terra Mitica, Terra Natura and Aqualanda Water Park, is about 45 minutes drive away. Valencia – rapidly emerging as one of Spain’s most exciting cities – is little more than an hour’s drive. About 10 golf courses are within a reasonable distance, while historic Guadalest is a scenic trip through the mountains.
